Apaches capture program's first TRC title

Bella Carrillo’s medalist round of 82 proved pivotal for the Wabash girls’ golf team on Saturday at the Three Rivers Conference (TRC) meet at Norwood Golf Course. The Apaches captured the program’s first conference title, edging out Peru with a score of 370.

The Tigers took second with a 375, winning a tiebreak over Maconaquah who took third. Northfield placed fifth with a season-best score of 393 while Manchester was seventh with a 427.

Carrillo’s round of 82 gave her medalist honors by one stroke over Kristianna Lingenfelter. Manchester’s Sam Kissell took third with an 84 and Northfield’s Ainsley Dale tied for fourth with Maconaquah’s Brianna Smitley. Annie Cole of Wabash and Emma Wynn of Northfield took seventh and tenth with rounds of 90 and 92, respectively.

Maconaquah’s Kianna Sharp and Ava Snyder rounded out All-Conference honors by placing sixth and tying for seventh, respectively.

For Wabash, Lindsey Mattern and Halle Miller carded matching rounds of 99 and Lacey Crist had a non-scoring 118 to follow Carrillo and Cole.

Northfield saw Alex Cartwright card a 98, Ella Satterthwaite a 115 and Briana Williams a non-scoring 119 to go along with Wynn and Dale.

After Kissell for Manchester, Alissa Bickerstaff carded a 106, Kayla Hippensteel a 109, Chaynee Tennant a 128 and Delani Henderson a non-scoring 134.

The sectional will take place on Saturday at Arbor Trace Golf Course with all three Wabash County teams taking part.
