Wabash cross country competes in Terre Haute

Wabash’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled to Terre Haute to take part in the TH Savings Bank Invitational held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross County Course on Saturday.

With a full squad for the first time this fall, the boys’ team placed eighth out of 26 teams with 265 points. Homestead took first with 81 points with Fishers, Center Grove, Valparaiso and Zionsville rounding out the top five.

Individually, Dereck Vogel took 16th to pace the Apaches. Caleb Callahan and Jarrett Wilson each followed with personal-best times. Caelan McDougle and Jacob Fuchs rounded out the scoring for Wabash on the day.

For the girls’ team, Sierra Hall led the way by taking 70th. Angel Wehrly placed 76th, Camille Kugler took 80th and Grace La Mar finished 160th.

 

Manchester hosts cross country invitational

At Manchester’s cross country invitational on Saturday, the boys’ team took 11th and the girls’ team finished fifth.

For the girls’ side, Josie Briner took 10th, Kambree Cashdollar placed 21st, Halle Briner placed 45th, Anna Markham was 90th and Sydney Diefenbaugh took 159th. The Squires’ score of 159 was 16 points behind both third- and fourth-place Culver Academies and East Noble, respectively. Fort Wayne Northrop took first.

Penn took first in the boys’ meet with 26 points, over 100 points ahead of second-place East Noble. Penn placed three runners in the top 10.

For Manchester, who finished with 306 points, Carter Bedke finished 18th, Raven King took 73rd, Cade Jones was 134th, Raice Martin was 217th and Elijah Burlingame was 306th.

 

Knights take part in Marion Invitational

The Southwood boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled to Indiana Wesleyan University to take part in the Marion Invitational on Saturday.

Braden Sweet led the boys’ team in the Elite Boys Race, taking 16th overall as an individual. The rest of the Knights competed as a team in the Red Boys race, placing ninth overall. Jacob Marlow placed 28th, Nathan Lehner finished 35th, Weslee Nelson took 52nd, Devin Danzy was 64th and Landon Topliff placed 66th.

In the girls’ race, Aleia Sweet placed seventh in the Red Girls race to lead Southwood. Monica Hobson was 15th and Mariah Brown was 28th.
