Apaches knock off Warriors for TRC win

Wabash’s girls’ soccer team picked up its second Three Rivers Conference (TRC) win of the season on Thursday evening, knocking off North Miami at home, 2-0.

Both Apache goals came not just in the second half but in the closing stages of the game. Madi Lutz scored an unassisted goal with 12 minutes remaining to push Wabash ahead. The insurance goal came moments later as a handball in the penalty box by the Warriors led to Julia France’s goal from the spot, doubling the Wabash lead.

Overall, the Apaches are 2-4 on the season and 2-3 in the TRC. 

Apaches blank Caston for victory

With goals in each half, the Apache boys’ soccer team picked up a 2-0 road win on Thursday against Caston.

Roberto Ruiz started the scoring in the first half on a cross from Wyatt Davis to open the scoring. After a big save from Grant Carandante and a penalty kick ruled off by Wyatt Davis after Wabash entered the penalty box early, the Apaches would eventually double the lead in the second half from Solly France.

Wabash improves to 4-2-1 on the year with the victory. 

Squires put six past Columbia City

Four second-half goals from Harley Kruschwitz and four goals in total from Caleb Stout gave Manchester a 9-3 win on the road over Columbia City on Thursday.

Stout started the scoring for Manchester in the first half before Logan Bishop latched onto a Justin Self pass to score the second goal of the game and give the Squires a 2-1 halftime lead. Kruschwitz scored four in the second half, Stout added three more and Wabash moved to 7-0 on the season.

Stout had three assists, Kruschwitz added two and Self, Bishop, Klutz Hunter, Brandon Hernandez and Sam Reichenbach all had an assist. 

Oak Hill edges past Manchester

The Manchester girls’ golf team dropped a narrow result to Oak Hill at Arbor Trace Golf Course on Thursday, losing 200-207. Sam Kissell led Manchester with a 41 while Alissa Bickerstaff and Kayla Hippensteel each carded rounds of 50 while Delani Henderson finished with a 66. Chaynee Tennant had a non-scoring 69. Manchester is 5-5 on the season and 3-3 against TRC foes. 

Northfield earns win in three-way meet

The Northfield girls’ golf team knocked off North Miami and Triton on Thursday, posting a score of 205.

Alex Cartwright carded a score of 49 to lead the Norse while Emma Wynn and Ainsley Dale each had rounds of 50. Ella Satterthwaite finished with a 56 and Briana Williams had a non-scoring 62. 

Wabash falls toBraves at home

Wabash’s boys’ tennis team fell to Maconaquah on Thursday at home, 3-2.

Wins came from Asif Khan at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-1, and Dave Ford at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5. Rob Ford fell at No. 1 singles, 0-6, 0-6. Jonah France and Logan Luttrell lost at No. 1 doubles, 1-6, 2-6. RJ Stegg and Nickolas Ewing lost 1-6, 0-6 at No. 2 doubles.
