MCS to discuss school safety on Tuesday

by Rob Burgess - rburgess@wabashplaindealer.com

The Manchester Community Schools (MCS) Board of Trustees will meet in executive session on Tuesday, Aug. 13 following the conclusion of the regular meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the MCS Administration Office, 404 W. 9th St., North Manchester, according to a notice released Friday.

The purpose of the session will be “to discuss the assessment, design, and implementation of school safety and security measures, plans, and systems.”

In response to a Plain Dealer request for additional information, Teresa L. Gremaux, MCS superintendent, stated that no additional information from this confidential executive session was available as of press time.

“The (Indiana Code) allows school corporations to discuss school safety in an executive session, mainly to protect our students from outsiders knowing all our security measures,” she stated. “Executive sessions are confidential and the board will release information at a later date if they feel it does not jeopardize the safety of our students.”
