MARION – Police have arrested a Marion man after a deadly Sunday morning shooting.

Vincent W. Sharp Jr., 24, of Marion confessed to the shooting the same day during questioning at the Marion Police Department, according to Capt. Stephen Dorsey of MPD.

Dorsey, who is also the Grant County coroner, identified the victim as Isaiah D. Horton, 25, of Marion.

Horton was alive when police arrived on the scene of the shooting at 2559 Jefferson Circle at 6:36 a.m. on Sunday. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead at Marion General Hospital at 7 a.m., according to Dorsey.

Dorsey said after investigation Sharp was found in Kokomo and brought to Marion by detectives. He agreed to speak to police about the shooting.

The suspect told police he was walking his dog that morning when he ran into Horton. According to the suspect, Horton “made a comment to him about a family member,” Dorsey said, and Sharp ran after him and began shooting.

The suspect told police there was “an ongoing feud” between Sharp and Horton.

Police have also recovered a 9 mm handgun, which has been sent to the Indiana State Police lab for testing.

An autopsy will be performed at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center.

Sharp has been charged with murder, a Level 1 felony, and serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, a Level 5 felony. Sharp is being held in the Grant County Jail without bond.

Horton and Sharp were both arrested in 2014 after a home invasion in the 3500 block of South Meridian Street, according to previous Chronicle-Tribune reports.

According to the police at the time, Sharp was brought in for questioning after officers noticed he matched the description given by the victims of the invaders.

Sharp told police Horton was also involved, and Horton was arrested several months later on a warrant for armed robbery and burglary.
