A single vehicle crash early Saturday left a Wabash man dead.

Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Wabash Police Department responded at around 6 a.m. to the scene in the 1200 block of Mill Street.

The preliminary crash investigation by ISP Trooper Dustin Rutledge stated that 28-year-old Daniel Morgan was driving a 2012 Jeep Patriot eastbound on Mill Street, according a Sunday press release from Sgt. Tony Slocum, ISP public information officer for the Peru District.

For an undetermined reason, the Jeep crossed the center line, traveled over the westbound lane, and crashed into a guardrail on the north side of the road, stated Slocum.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.

No other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the accident and the toxicology report was still pending, said Slocum on Monday.

Morgan was wearing his seatbelt, said Slocum.

A message left for Suzie Lewis, Wabash County coroner, was not returned as of press time.

The Wabash Fire Department, the Wabash County Coroners Office, and Wabash County EMA also responded to the scene.
