The Odd Couple

Wabash Area Community Theater will present Neil Simon’s comedy classic “The Odd Couple” at Southwood Jr./Sr. High School at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Tickets are $10 at the door.

INDOT hearing

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. at Northfield Jr./Sr. High School, 154 West 200 North. Enter Door 7 to the cafeteria. The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on current design plans for intersection improvement at U.S. 24 and CR 300 East, also known as Lagro Servia Road or Cement Avenue in Wabash County.

Mamma Mia!

Wabash Area Community Theater is excited to announce their 2019 Fall Musical “Mamma Mia”, September 27, 28 and 29.

The Board of Directors will have a callout meeting on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the Crystal Room at the Honeywell Center. During the meeting, information will be shared about the upcoming auditions including dates, times, and audition requirements. Details about the show and rehearsals will also be shared and some of the Mamma Mia staff will be introduced.

American Legion 100th Anniversary

The American Legion will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Sunday, March 24 with a dinner at 1 p.m. The celebration will recognize the history of the Legion, its volunteers, and honor the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces. The dinner will be held at Sunset Post 402. Guests can RSVP at (260) 224-3162 or (260) 982-2896.

BBQ Rib dinner

The Laketon American Legion is hosting a rib dinner on Saturday, March 30 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Potatoes, vegetables, salads and drinks will be served for $8 per person. Dessert will also be available.

Sheriff awarding scholarships

Wabash County Sheriff Ryan Baker announced Wednesday that the Indiana Sheriff’s Association will again be awarding college scholarships to qualified high school seniors and college students pursuing a degree in criminal justice. There will be approximately 40 $750 in scholarships awarded.

Qualifying students must be Indiana residents, a current member of the sheriff’s association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member, attend an Indiana college or university full-time (12 credit hours or more).

Applications are available via high school counselors, at the sheriff’s office at 79 W. Main St. in Wabash or online at IndianaSheriffs.org. The application deadline is April 1.

OJ Neighbours is bringing the carnival back

The carnival will be Saturday, April 13 from 5-7 p.m. at OJ Neighbours Elementary School. Students, when accompanied by an adult, will enjoy a fun filled evening of games, prizes, and food. You can purchase an all inclusive wristband with the exception of food. Bracelets can be preordered until March 28 for $10. Bracelets can also be purchased at the door for $15. We will have face painting, games galore, pizza, a cake walk, and much more! There will be a silent auction available where adults can bid on a variety of items. Class art projects and grade level baskets will be going up for a live auction. The silent auction will run from 5 - 6:30 p.m. The live auction will begin at 6 p.m.

Taught by MJ McClelland three days a week, Mondays and Thursdays at 9:45 a.m., Wednesdays at 3 p.m. at Living Well Winchester Center, 239 Bond Street; no registration required.

DivorceCare, a 13-week DVD series sponsored by Wabash Friends Counseling Center, features some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on topics concerning divorce and recovery. The support group meets at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in Room 112 in the Wabash Friends Church, 3563 South State Road 13, Wabash.
