Apache swimming falls to Zebras

Wabash’s boys’ and girls’ swim teams hosted Rochester at the Wabash County YMCA on Tuesday evening. The girls’ team lost 122-46 while the boys’ team fell 104-50.

The lone winner in the boys’ meet for the Apaches was Jonah France in the 100-yard freestyle while Paul Cordes finished as runner-up in the event. Leigha Boggs was the lone victor in the girls’ meet, taking first in diving on the night.

The Apaches will return to the pool at home on Thursday as both teams host Eastern. Start time is slated for 6:00 p.m.

The Wabash wrestling team picked up a 40-29 win on the road against Lewis Cass on Tuesday.

Individual wins came from Jared Brooks at 106 pounds, Ethan Higgins at 120 pounds, Braden Brooks at 126 pounds, Anthony Long at 138 pounds, Grant Caradante at 160 pounds, Justin Samons at 220 pounds and Grant Warmuth at heavyweight.

Wabash will be off until Tuesday when the Apaches host Eastbrook with a start time of 6:30 p.m.

Southwood also wrestled on the road on Tuesday, falling to Bluffton 63-15. Carson Kelley picked up a win at 145 pounds by pinfall in 1:21 while Connor Rich earned an 18-12 decision victory at 160 pounds. Thomas Charles had the other win on the night for the Knights, pinning his opponent at 182 pounds in 24 seconds.

The Knights will be off until Tuesday when they travel to Tippecanoe Valley to take on the Vikings at 6:30 p.m.

Emmanuel Christian dropped its first basketball game of the season on Tuesday, falling to Indiana Christian Academy of Anderson by a final of 58-48. JC Frank had 25 points to lead the Eagles. Jack Niccum had 10 points while Levi Hinds chipped in eight.

The Eagles (4-1) will be back in action on Friday at home with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
