Santa breakfast in LaFontaine

The LaFontaine Lions Club will host a “Santa breakfast” from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in the LaFontaine Community Building, featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet of pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits for a free will donation. Santa arrives at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the LaFontaine United Methodist Church food pantry. Please bring non-perishable donations.

Bell ringers needed

The Salvation Army of Wabash County is seeking volunteer bell ringers for the holiday season. Bell ringers will be set up outside the Walmart and Kroger stores in Wabash and New Market in North Manchester. Donations will benefit Wabash County families who need help paying utility bills, back rent, prescriptions, gasoline or hotel stays due to fire other other disaster. Volunteers are needed between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

To register, visit registertoring.com or call Deborah at 260-563-8970. Any church or organization may sign up for a whole or half day and will be credited for money raised during that time. Individuals are also needed. Students may earn credit for community service too. Volunteers are also needed to deliver and pick up kettles from the stores.

Scholarship for WHS grads

Recent and rising Wabash High School graduates may apply for a Lucille Camp Scholarship. The scholarship fund is available to 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 WHS graduates. Applications are available in the high school guidance office or online. Completed applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 1, 2019 to be considered.

Legion to host holiday meals

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 402 will host a dinner featuring fish, shrimp, beef ‘n’ noodles and meatloaf on Friday, Dec. 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Blue Bird Cafe, located at 4754 S. 700 E. in Wabash. The Legion will also begin serving breakfast at the Laketon Post, located at 10140 N. Troyer Road in Laketon, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Blue Bird Cafe will be closed over the holidays beginning Sunday, Dec. 23, so breakfast and lunch will be served at the Laketon Post through the New Year from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals are $8-$9 a plate and children eat for half price. There will be no breakfast Christmas morning, but a free community dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Day. All are welcome. 

DivorceCare holiday series start

The local DivorceCare group which meets at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday will be offering a DVD series on surviving the holidays through Dec. 18. The group leader and members will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Subway, 1812 S. Wabash St., Wabash. Meetings are held each week in Room 112 at Wabash Friends Church, 3563 S. Ind. 13, Wabash.
