LAFONTAINE — A Marion woman was injured in a three-vehicle crash south of LaFontaine on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.

Police identified the victim as Haine Aroune, 27, of Marion.

The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday said Aroune was transported to Parkview Wabash Hospital for treatment of neck injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash on Ind. 15 south of Ind. 218 late Wednesday afternoon. No other serious injuries were reported.

The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident around 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a description of the accident provided by Sheriff Robert Land, Charles L. Chambers, 57, LaFontaine, was traveling southbound on Ind. 15 when he slowed to make a left-hand turn. The vehicle immediately behind him, driven by Deanna M. Yeakle, 46, of Marion, also slowed. But a third vehicle police say was driven by Aroune reportedly “failed to slow” and struck Yeakle’s vehicle, which then drove into a side ditch. Aroune’s vehicle continued forward, striking the rear of Chambers’s vehicle before coming to a stop.

Indiana State Police, Wabash County EMA and the Liberty Township and Wabash City fire departments assisted at the scene.
