MCS Election: Krouse campaigns for reelection

by ANDREW CHRISTMAN - achristman@wabashplaindealer.com

Sally Krouse is seeking reelection to the Manchester Community Schools Board of Education, a position she has held for 20 years.

“I believe in it, and I want to see the school system succeed,” Krouse said. “If I can be a part of that, that’s why I’m here.”

Krouse says she is proud of “big picture” accomplishments, like student success rates after they leave MCS. And she says she’s pushed the board toward professionalism throughout her tenure.

“I’ve been active in the School Board Association. I’ve found it to be an enormous resource for our school board whenever we get into questions we have,” Krouse said. “I hope it’s brought something to Manchester too.”

When it comes to the Squire Fieldhouse, Krouse said she is in full support of the project and hopes it will be passed because of the benefits it could bring to the community. The largest benefit would be to the students, as she says current scheduling conflicts with the gym make some extracurricular groups have to meet at late or irregular times.

“I think the options for our band will be wonderful to rehearse inside instead of out in the rain,” Krouse said. “To me, this was the overall best as soon as it appeared. The point it’s in now is still a conceptual stage, it will be refined over time.”

Krouse added while she fully supports the fieldhouse and would have liked to see it go through initially, she fully supports the referendum process.

Krouse said she wants voters to know she is committed to the community, as she has a grandson who has just started attending MCS and she has lived in the area for most of her life.

“My family is invested, and as I’ve said I have another generation coming on,” Krouse said. “I very much want this school district to not just be successful but something everybody can feel extremely proud of.”
