Wabash County golf tournament set for July 28, 29

The annual Wabash County Amateur Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29. The tournament will start at Honeywell Golf Course on Saturday and finish at Etna Acres on Sunday. Following play a Sunday, a meal will be provided.

The tournament is open to any Wabash County residents or members of either Honeywell Golf Course or Etna Acres Golf Course.

There will be a men’s division with the top half of the field qualifying for the championship flight on Sunday. There will also be a seniors division for ages 50-59, a super senior division for ages 60-69, a super super seniors division for ages 70 and over and a ladies division.

Cost is $40. Deadline to register is July 26 at 5 p.m. Registration can be completed at either golf course.

Etna Acres results

At the Senior Men’s Scramble League the team of Mike Parker, Harold Williams, John Ayres and Dan Matthews took first with a score of 32. Long drive went to Lavon Birkey at hole No. 3 and John Myers at hole No. 4. Closest to the pin were Don Alexander at hole No. 2 and Darwin Stoffel at hole No. 8.

In the Men’s League, EJ Tackett’s score of 34 took first while Devin Dale finished second with a 36. Longest drive came from Dale at hole No. 9 while Rick Treska was closest to the pin at hole No. 2 and Rod Strickler at hole No. 8.

Honeywell Ladies League results

The Honeywell Ladies League held a red tea scramble on Tuesday. The team of Lana Garber, Susan Dawes, Kay Peas and Pam Reynolds took first with a 32. Loretta Cornwell, Mary Jo McClelland and Jane Barker won the back nine with a score of 29.

There will be no Ladies League next week due to an Indiana PGA Junior Prep Tournament event.
