White’s Residential and Family Services raised an estimated $13,000 during its eighth annual golf outing to help with program costs.

Chief Financial Officer Byron Brunn said the money benefit an as-of-yet undetermined support program for the school, though the organization is leaning toward purchasing new weight lifting equipment.

“It’s a good outing and a large percentage of what we raise goes directly to the kids,” Brunn said.

The annual all-day event started at 7:30 a.m. Monday and consisted of participants golfing through 100 holes.

Brunn described the event as a day of volunteerism for the 17 taking part, as participants involved with White’s would take a paid day off to fundraise and play the course.

Among those taking part was Campus Life Specialist Sean Cline, who said he hoped the funds raised would benefit the organization’s basketball program by helping provide shoes, jersies and upkeep for the facilities. Cline said this was his second year playing the marathon for the outing and third year participating.

“I take any chance I can to help White’s,” Cline said.

Money raised through the outing came from individual fundraisers established by those taking part and corporate sponsorships.
