Girls’ tennis sectional draw

The tennis sectional draw was revealed on Monday for the Peru sectional, which features all four Wabash County schools.

Northfield and Southwood will meet tonight as will Manchester and Peru with the matches set to start at 5:15 p.m.

Maconaquah will meet the winner of Northfield and Southwood in the first semi-final while Wabash will meet the winner of Manchester and Peru in the second semi-final. Those matches will take place on Thursday.

The final will take place on Friday.

The matches will take place at Thrush Tennis Courts in Peru.

Honeywell Ladies League results

The Honeywell Golf Club hosted the ladies league on Tuesday and played a proximity event.

Loretta Cornwell was closest to the pin on hole No. 16, Sue Gray had the longest putt made on hole No. 9 and Lana Garber longest putt on No. 18. Next Tuesday will be the first scramble of the season with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Those ladies who did not have the opportunity to pay their $10 dues or receive league schedules earlier should report by 8:45 a.m. 

Wabash Little League results

In National League action on Monday, the Crossroads Bank Red Sox won 16-1 against the Wabash City Schools A’s.

Noah Buckhart had three triples for the Red Sox while Will Winer had a single, a double and a triple. Luke Andrews and Derek Reed each had a single for the A’s.

Mariners’ Cano suspended 80 games

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mariners All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano has been suspended 80 games for violating baseball’s joint drug agreement.
