URBANA — A Roann man was hospitalized after his Wabash County Highway dump truck crashed through an Urbana home’s front porch early Wednesday afternoon, according to reports from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of the crash, which took place around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, is unknown at this time because the driver could not recall the events leading up to it, Chief Deputy Tyler Guenin told the Plain Dealer.

Guenin said the driver, Jeffrey Weimann, 63, of Roann, was reportedly headed northbound on Ind. 13 when his truck left the pavement and hit the home, which sits east of the highway just south of Wabash County Road 500N at the intersection of College Street.

Weimann suffered minor injuries and was transported to Parkview Wabash Hospital for medical evaluation, Guenin said. Police say no one was home at the time of the crash.

Wabash County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Scott Campbell was dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:15 p.m. and was assisted by the Wabash City Fire Department and the Urbana Volunteer Fire Department.

Wabash County Emergency Management Agency responded to control traffic in the area.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department. Information regarding the cause of the crash will be updated as more information is made available.
