Norse, Apaches fall on hardwood

The Northfield boys’ basketball team dropped its road battle with Eastbrook on Saturday, 70-58.

After being tied at 19-19 after one, the Panthers took a 34-28 lead into the locker room. The third quarter saw the margin extended to 16 points as the hosts cruised to the win.

The Norse were led by Kyle Reed’s 24 points and 11 rebounds while Jared Peas had 11 points. Logan Peas and Joe Halderman had nine and eight points, respectively.

Northfield falls to 5-13 with the loss, its third in the last four games.

The Norse will be back in action at Maconaquah on Tuesday with tip-off set to start at 7:45 p.m.

Wabash’s boys’ basketball team also fell on Saturday, dropping its home game against Cass, 54-48.

The Kings jumped out to an early 15-8 lead before seeing the lead decrease to 28-25 by halftime.

Cass, however, won both quarters of the second half, to secure the win.

Logan Vander Velden led the Apaches with 13 points while Trenton Daughtry and Jared Holley had nine points apiece.

Holley grabbed a team-best six rebounds while Vander Velden had six assists.
