Norse, Apaches fall in road games

The Northfield boys’ basketball team came up short on Friday, falling to Bluffton on the road, 56-47.

Northfield fell behind 13-6 after one quarter before fighting back to within four at 41-37 heading into the fourth.

In the final frame, though, the hosts outscored the Norse 15-10 to secure the victory.

Kyle Reed led Northfield with 20 points while Joe Halderman joined him in double figures with 11. Jared Peas and Logan Peas finished with seven and five points, respectively.

The Norse are now 5-11 on the season. They traveled to Eastbrook on Saturday, but results were unavailable as of deadline on Saturday.

Northfield returns to action Tuesday with a road trip to Maconaquah. Tip-off is slated for 7:45 p.m.

Wabash’s boys’ basketball team dropped their Three Rivers Conference battle, losing at Rochester 62-53.

A slow start to the night saw the Apaches trail 16-8 after one and 36-13 at halftime. Wabash closed the gap to 45-32 by the end of the third and trailed just 49-42 with 3:39 to go, but the rally would fall short.

Trenton Daughtry had 19 points for Wabash while Luke Mattern scored all 10 of his points in the second half to lead the Apaches.

With the loss, Wabash falls to 9-8 on the year and 4-4 in conference play. Wabash hosted Cass on Saturday, but results were unavailable as of deadline on Saturday. The Apaches will be off until Saturday when they host Blackford. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
