Apache swim teams fall to Rochester

The Wabash swim teams traveled to Rochester on Tuesday where the teams fell to the Zebras. The boys’ team fell 116-50 while the girls’ team lost 119-60.

Morgan Owens took home first in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard butterfly for the girls’ team while Mallory Hipskind finished first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events.

Grace Scheoning finished second in the 100-yard backstroke and Alexis Hartley finished runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke. The team of Owens, Schoening, Hartley and Hipskind placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

In the boys’ meet, Trace Goodwin took second in the 50-yard freestyle, Robert King placed second in the 100-yard backstroke and Jacob Bruss finished runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bruss, Goodwin, Jonah France and Jonathan King took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Goodwin, France, Bruss and Robert King took first.

The Apache wrestling team moved to 5-3 on the season with a 39-30 win over Lewis Cass at home on Tuesday.

Alex Baggett (113 lbs.), Braden Brooks (120 lbs.), Noah Cressell (182 lbs.) and Blake Price (285 lbs.) all earned wins by pinfall on the night, when 145-pounder Jake Cisneros, 195-pounder Justin Samons and 220-pounder Grant Warmuth earned wins by decision.

Emmanuel Christian earned a 50-38 win over Cornerstone Baptist on the road on Tuesday.

Ariston Trusty led the way with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists and Preston Ritzema added eight points and three rebounds. Davis Coyne finished with seven points, 13 rebounds and seven steals.

Emmanuel Christian's next game will be on Friday night against Heritage Hall at 5 p.m.
