Dr. Donald S. Doucette's message was simple and to the point: “I'm here to help.”
Doucette, on his 11th day as Ivy Tech Community College's senior vice president and provost, stopped by the Wabash campus on Monday afternoon, as part as visits to all the campuses in the school's system.
“I'm from the central office and I'm here to see how we can help and support all the good work in the regions,” he said.
“One thing that I recognize, and will always recognize, is that we don't teach a single student on the the third floor of the Ivy Tech building in Indianapolis, where my office is,” Doucette continued. “The things that are valuable happen in the regions.
“It is our job to support the regions in any way we can; to help them do as good a job as we know they want to do and that we know they are capable of if we give them the resources.”
“It's my job to help do that and to help uplift your efforts in making a difference with students' lives.”
Doucette was greeted at the Wabash campus with a reception attended by school officials, alumni and city officials.
“It's wonderful to see a community that cares so much about the college,” Doucette noted.
